Tampa Bay Vipers Rule QB Aaron Murray Out For Week Three

The Tampa Bay Vipers have ruled quarterback Aaron Murray out for their Week Three matchup against the Houston Roughnecks.

It will be the second week Murray has been sidelined with an injury. Murray missed Tampa Bay’s Week Two loss to the Seattle Dragons with a foot injury he sustained in Week One. The Vipers are 0-2 thus far in the XFL season. They’ll be taking on the undefeated Roughnecks without their starting quarterback. The Tampa Bay Times’ Mari Faiello reports that the signal-caller was working on the practice field for conditioning drills.

Tight end Nick Truesdell has also been ruled out for Week Three. Truesdell is dealing with a knee injury that will put him out for the first time this season. There’s no word on how long Truesdell will be out but Faiello reports that he was working on a separate field during team practice. Interestingly enough, Murray and Truesdell were the first two players in Vipers’ history.

It’s likely quarterbacks Taylor Cornelius and Quinton Flowers will share signal-calling duties this week, similar to last week against the Dragons. The Vipers are flanked at tight end by DeAndre Goolsby, Colin Thompson, and Pharoah McKever. The Vipers host the Houston Roughnecks on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
