St. Louis BattleHawks Top New York Guardians 29-9

The St. Louis BattleHawks picked up a 29-9 victory over the New York Guardians in Week Three of the XFL season.

It was a rough day for the New York squad, who featured three different quarterbacks under center. New York’s troubles at the signal-caller position continue, as they now sit at 1-2 on the season. Only one touchdown was scored from New York when quarterback Luis Perez connected with receiver Austin Duke.

It was a quiet day for the Guardians defense as well, who gave up 29 points to a BattleHawks squad led by quarterback Jordan Ta’amu. Ta’amu completed 67 percent of his passes for 119 yards, but no touchdowns or interceptions. The BattleHawks running game produced two touchdowns, each by running backs Matt Jones and Christine Michael.

The defensive side of the ball looked dominant for St. Louis too, as they recorded three sacks, an interception, and six passes defended. St. Louis’ special teams also recorded the first kickoff return for a touchdown in XFL history. Now, the BattleHawks will host the 1-2 Seattle Dragons next week. Meanwhile, New York will host the LA Wildcats.
