Houston Roughnecks Edge St. Louis BattleHawks 28-24

The Houston Roughnecks are now 2-0 after picking up a 28-24 Week Two victory over the St. Louis BattleHawks.

Houston was led by quarterback PJ Walker, who threw for 170 yards, completing 65 percent of his passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Walker finished the day with a quarterback rating of 111. The signal-caller has found a go-to target in receiver Cam Phillips, who hauled in eight catches for 63 yards, all three of Walker’s touchdowns being hauled in by Phillips himself.

St. Louis didn’t go down without a fight, as quarterback Jordan Ta’amu threw for 284 yards with an 81 percent completion percentage, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Unfortunately, Ta’amu and the BattleHawks’ offensive efforts were too short. The BattleHawks had a tough time on defense as well, only registering one sack on the day. However, Houston’s defensive squad was all over the stat sheet.

The Roughnecks recorded three sacks, two interceptions, and seven tackles for a loss. Now, the Roughnecks will head into Week Three against the Tampa Bay Vipers, while the BattleHawks host the New York Guardians.
