XFL Inks Deal With Genius Sports To Prevent Improper Sports Betting

The XFL continues to make important moves as kick-off approaches in February.

Now, the league has reportedly signed a multi-year deal with the Genius Sports Group to prevent improper sports betting on the XFL. The London-based Genius Sports has similar partnerships in place with golf’s PGA Tour and the soccer’s English Premier League (EPL). The aim of the partnership is to help the XFL build a so-called integrity program to protect against fixed games.

Genius, who is also owned by a private equity firm, Apax Partners, will be offering around-the-clock monitoring of pre-game and live betting markets in order to detect unusual activity. Genius describes their service as to “Monitor and understand global betting on your competitions 24/7, 365 days a year. Our Bet Monitoring System leads the fight against match-fixing with predictive algorithms that flag potentially suspicious betting activity.”

The report from Bloomberg also notes that the XFL’s centralized training camp this month will include betting-focused educational workshops for players, coaches, and game officials, from Genius.
