An announcement on a TV deal for the XFL could be coming soon.
John Ourand from the Sports Business Journal reported on Tuesday that there are “deep discussions” taking place with FOX and ABC for the league to air games on their networks.
A deal with FOX would also mean that some games would air on FS1 and the ABC deal would also mean that some games would air on ESPN. At this point, ESPN+ is not something being discussed right now.
Skeptics point to the colossal failure of the league in 2001 but Vince McMahon has promised that this new XFL will be different with more focus in quality of play. Networks are more interested because there is a desire for more live sports content because live sports are more DVR proof than other programming and that is what is attractive to advertisers.
