Former NFL star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson hopes to play football again but this time as a kicker for the XFL.
Johnson noted on Twitter that he had a tryout with the league on Monday in Houston. No word on how the tryout went but he noted in his tweet that he’s excited and he’s sure everything will go well.
The 42-year-old has not played professional football since February 2012, where he caught a pass for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.
Johnson said in a follow-up tweet, “Pretty far fetched but imagine me being consistent during an XFL season & getting a chance at a 53 man roster in the NFL, even I don’t make it just being able to compete for a spot at a entirely different position will be so riveting.”
Last month, Johnson posted a video of himself kicking a 60-year field goal. If the league signs him then he would be the most well-known player to sign with them and could get some extra attention for their launch in a couple of weeks. Click here for the full XFL TV schedule.
