The XFL is very much all-in on the gambling side of things, as the league has already partnered up with Genius Sports to prevent improper betting. Now, Draft Kings has announced they will be launching XFL Fantasy Football beginning in February.
It’s a partnership that was expected, as commissioner Oliver Luck previously confirmed the league would have fantasy football options, and XFL owner Vince McMahon owns a small share of Draft Kings. Now, Draft Kings has confirmed on Twitter that XFL Fantasy will launch on February 8.
“We can confirm that we will have XFL contests this season and that those contests will begin on 2/8. We’ll be sure to provide additional details as we get closer to that date. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.”
This is a solid move for the XFL, as Draft Kings is one of the top platforms for online sports betting. To have such a platform backing the XFL and legitimizing it as a sports league is a big step in the right direction as kickoff approaches in a few weeks. That’s not to say that this will be the only fantasy football partner for the XFL, as many more can be expected in the coming weeks.
