CFL Veteran WR Armanti Edwards Signs With XFL’s Team Nine

The XFL has inked another Canadian Football League (CFL) veteran to their Team Nine squad.

Edwards, 31, played his college football for Appalachian State. During that time, Edwards was a two-time NCAA FCS national champion, a two-time Walter Payton Award winner, and a two-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Year winner. He was also a three-time First Team All-SoCon selection and a one-time Second Team All-SoCon selection.

After four seasons with the Carolina Panthers in the NFL, Edwards had a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns before eventually landing in the CFL. There, he played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders for one season, and has spent the past three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts. During his time with the CFL, Edwards won the Grey Cup in 2017 with the Argonauts.

He comes off a 1,014 yard and seven touchdown season in 2019. Now, Edwards has signed with the XFL’s Team Nine, based out of Dallas and coached by Bart Andrus.
