St. Louis edged out the Renegades with a score of 15-9. Dallas is currently the early betting favorites to win the XFL Championship this year, so it’s quite the feather in the cap of the St. Louis squad. The winning effort was led by Ole Miss product Jordan Ta’amu, who completed 20 of his 27 pass attempts for 209 yards and a touchdown. He finished the game with a 108.4 quarterback rating.
Ta’amu was also a force to be reckoned with on the ground, as the BattleHawks’ second-leading rusher of the game with 77 yards on 10 attempts. Running back Matt Jones just edged Ta’amu out with rushing yards after piling up 85 on 21 attempts.
As for Dallas, they were led by quarterback Philip Nelson, who had a bit of a rough day. Nelson was sacked four times and threw for 209 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. Dallas’ run game never got going either, as they didn’t produce a rusher who registered more than 27 yards.
Now, St. Louis heads into Houston next week to face the Roughnecks, while Dallas will attempt to earn their first touchdown of the season against the LA Wildcats.
