Trades continue to flow as the XFL’s inaugural season approaches in a few weeks.
Now, it has been announced that the Dallas Renegades have traded defensive tackle Nick James to the Houston Roughnecks for tight end Julian Allen. The Renegades made the announcement official on Twitter.
“The Dallas Renegades have acquired Houston Roughnecks TE Julian Allen in exchange for DT Nick James. @TheHybrid_86 joined Dallas for practice this morning.”
Allen is a Southern Mississippi product who played in 2016 for the program, hauling in 19 receptions over 13 games played. He amassed 281 receiving yards and scored one touchdown. Allen is hoping to break out and make a name for himself in Dallas with the XFL.
As for James, he played his college ball for Mississippi State, playing on the defensive line from 2012 to 2016. Over that time, he registered 62 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, and two sacks. He went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft and was briefly signed to the Detroit Lions before quickly being cut.
Since, James has had stints with the Canadian Football League (CFL), the Alliance of American Football (AAF), and the Arena Football League (AFL). He was drafted by the Renegades in the XFL Draft, but will now play his football for Houston in 2020.
